Visa Information for IChO-2025 Participants
As we prepare to welcome participants from around the world to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) 2025, it is important to understand the visa requirements applicable to you. Below, you will find details on the types of visas and a list of countries along with the specific visa category each falls into.
Types of Visas
1. Visa-Free Entry:
- Nationals from GCC countries (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE) do not require a visa to enter the UAE. Simply present your GCC country passport or national ID card at the entry point.
- No application required. Ensure your GCC ID or passport is valid for at least six months from the date of entry.
2. Visa on Arrival:
- This facility is available for citizens of several countries, allowing them to obtain a visa directly upon arrival in the UAE. This visa is valid for either 30 days or 90 days, depending on the traveler's nationality, with a possibility for extension.
- Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months. Visas can be obtained at UAE airports upon arrival.
3. Online Visa (E-Visa):
- Participants from countries not eligible for visa-free entry or visa on arrival need to apply for an online visa prior to travel. This can be done through the UAE's official e Visa portal or through other authorized channels such as airlines, hotels, or travel agents.
- Apply through the UAE e Visa portal or contact affiliated airlines or hotels. You will need to submit the necessary documents, such as a passport copy, photo, and travel itinerary.

Applying for an Online Visa (E-Visa)
Participants from countries not eligible for visa-free entry or on arrival must apply for an online visa before travelling to the UAE. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to apply for an E-Visa:
1. Prepare the Required Document
- Passport: Must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry into the UAE.
- Photograph: Passport-sized photograph that meets the UAE visa photo standards.
- Travel Itinerary: Include details of your stay in the UAE (InterContinental Dubai Festival City for the Mentors and Holiday Inn & Suites Dubai Festival City, an IHG Hotel for students), including dates.
- Accommodation Proof: Invitation letter from the host.
- Health Insurance: Proof of health insurance that covers your stay in the UAE.
2. Application Process:

4. Visa Approval
- Once your visa application is approved, you will receive an email notification. The visa can be downloaded and printed from the application portal.
- It is important to carry a printed copy of your E-Visa when you travel, as you will need to present it upon arrival in the UAE.
5. Entry into the UAE
- Present your passport and printed E-Visa to the immigration officer at the airport.
- Ensure that all travel documents align with the details provided in the visa application to avoid entry issues.

Travel Requirements for Minors Attending IChO-2025
Participants under 18 who are travelling to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) without their parents need to fulfil specific requirements to ensure a smooth entry into the country. It's important to prepare all necessary documents to comply with UAE regulations regarding minor travel:
Documentation for Minors
- Passport: Valid for at least six months beyond the date of entry into the UAE.
- Visa: Depending on the minor's nationality, a visa may need to be applied for in advance. Please refer to the visa section for specific requirements.
- Notarized Travel Consent Letter: A notarized letter of consent from both parents or legal guardians is required. The letter should:
- Clearly state the approval for the minor to travel to the UAE for IChO-2025.
- Include the dates of travel.
- Specify the names and contact information of the adults who will be responsible for the minor during the trip.
- Be attached with copies of the consenting parents' or guardians' government-issued IDs or passports.
- Emergency Contact Information: Provide contact details of next of kin or legal guardians who will not be traveling with the minor, to be used in case of an emergency.
- Health Insurance: Valid international health insurance that covers the duration of the stay in the UAE.
Travel Accompanying Leader
- Identification: Leaders accompanying minors must carry identification and details of their relationship to the minors or their official capacity.
- Contact Details: Leaders should have all necessary contact details for the event organizers and a list of accommodations and itineraries.
Arrival in UAE
Upon arrival in the UAE, immigration authorities may request to see all travel documents for minors. It is crucial to have all documents readily available, including the notarized travel consent letter.
